Heretofore concrete structures were made for storing inflammable petroleum products. Such structures were permanent and could not be shifted and relocated. To obviate this difficulty the present invention attempts to fabricate and assemble in situ modular structure for storage and egress of hydrocarbon products, which is easy to erect, dismantle and relocate as and when needed or desired. According the present invention relates to a novel prefabricated, modular steel structure usable as a cellar pit, made from steel plates/sheets (8 and 9) haVing a gap or recess for construction side and end walls, its base being fabricated from square hollow tubes (11) having reinforcements, the said gap or recess between the outer (8) and inner (9) steel plates being filled with a non-conducting, heat-resistant and inert material (7), the outer wall surface being formed of corrugated or serrated steel sheets and the inner wall being made of plain sheet (s), the top surface being provided with a grating assembly (5) for movement, the ground level being flush with the top of the grating(s), and the top and bottom of the said cellar pit being covered with PCC(12) of desired thickness, depending on soil characteristics, total load of the contents and prevailing mechanical factors.
