This structure for predicting vane wear is configured so that a communication path (30) relaying through a vane groove (25) and communicating through two different chambers (19a, 19b) in a cylinder chamber (19) is provided to a rotor (21), and a relaying communication portion is closed at all times by a vane set into the vane grooves but opens when wear of the vane has progressed by a predetermined amount. This causes the communication portion relaying through the vane groove, that has been previously closed by the vane, to open when the wear of the vane has progressed up to the predetermined amount, and causes the two chambers partitioned by the vane to communicate through the communication path. Then, rather than the prior operation exhibiting regular performance, a change is made to operation the performance of which has considerably deteriorated. This deliberately induced deteriorated operation makes it possible to predict circumstances where the vane is approaching a wear limit.
