Medication-coated balloon catheter and method for manufacturing the same

The catheter has a base membrane, and an asymmetrical polymer membrane attached to an outer side of the base membrane. A pharmaceutical active agent is embedded in the polymer membrane. The base membrane consists of polymer material e.g. polyurethane, polyether-polyurethane, polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, polyamide and copolymers, at a side, which is turned towards the polymer membrane. The catheter is used only with the pharmaceutical active agent at an inflated condition. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a medication-coated balloon catheter.
