The present invention relates to a mouthwash composition and a pharmaceutical composition which comprise polyethylene glycol (PEG) derivatives modified to covalently bond with oral mucosa epithelial cells. The present invention can be used for preventing, treating and ameliorating xerostomia by increasing the mouth moisture-sustaining effect and moisture-sustaining capability for people who have xerostomia due to aging or disease.
