Binder for foundry masses containing (a) 20-70 parts by weight epoxy resin; (b) optionally 0-50 parts by weight acrylate; (c) optionally 0-30 parts by weight fatty acid alkyl ester, wherein the ester alkyl group is an aliphatic hydrocarbon containing up to 8 carbon atoms, preferably 4 to 8 carbon atoms, and most preferably is butyltallate; and (d) a free radical polymerization initiator composition comprising a tert-butyl hydroperoxide solution that contains no more than 7 weight. % water, where the amount of the composition of the initiator of free radical polymerization is from 10 to 30 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight total binder. 6. A binder for foundry masses according to claim 5, wherein the binder, namely, the composition of the free radical polymerization initiator, further comprises cumene hydroperoxide.
