The LED (1) has a transparent primary optic body (3) partially enclosing a LED chip and comprising a closed outer surface (5) along a longitudinal axis (4). Light radiated by the chip directly strikes on light exit surfaces (6, 7) and exited from the body or deflected at the outer surface and exited from the body through the exit surfaces. The optic body comprises light deflecting active surfaces (10, 13) through which light is radiated from the chip into the body in accordance with a predetermined light distribution. One active surface is designed as a cladding segment of the outer surface. The light exit surfaces are designed as aspherical ellipsoid lenses.
