The module (2) has a gas bag (15) comprising a gas bag casing (16) that limits an inner chamber of the gas bag. A gas generator fills the gas bag with gas, which is projected by an aperture (18) in the gas bag casing into the inner camber of the gas bag. A gas generating agent (6) activates a function in the gas bag and projects by another aperture of the gas bag casing into the inner chamber of the gas bag. The gas generating agent opens a vent hole of the gas bag and releases a catch tape or fills the gas bag with gas and/or coolant. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an air bag module.
