The airbag module (2) has an air bag housing (4), an inflatable gas bag (10) and a gas generator that is assigned to the gas bag. The gas bag has a flammable propellant (28), which is surrounded by a frangible casing (30), and has a gas generator housing (22). The gas generator housing surrounds the casing directly. The gas generator housing is formed by two non-detachable connected housing parts (16,18) of the air bag housing. An injection molded part is made of plastic. The gas generator housing is made of metal, ceramic, glass or a composite material. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an airbag module.
