The method involves providing a rotor shaft (2) made of steel, and sharpening hardnesses of a peripheral surface (11) of the rotor shaft by utilizing a grinding disk (4). The peripheral surface of the rotor shaft is precision-grinded by utilizing a supplementary grinding disk (12). The grinding disk and/or the supplementary grinding disk are made of corundum or cubic boron nitride or diamond. The rotor shaft is arranged in a receiving device (6) in a captured condition with respect to the supplementary grinding disk, which is supported at a base unit (3) by a drive unit (8). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a rotor shaft for a supercharger (2) a device for machining a rotor shaft.
