Preparing a perfumed (semi) metal oxide composition, comprises providing a solution or a dispersion of (semi) metal oxide in a solvent, adding a perfume to the solution or dispersion, agitating the resultant mixture, and then optionally removing the solvent. An independent claim is included for targeted fragrance release on hard and/or textile surfaces, comprising treating the surfaces with the (semi) metal oxide composition, drying the treated surfaces, and then adding moisture to cause the release of fragrance.
