The method involves separating extruded profile corresponding to length of metal sheet plate. The extruded profile is bent to form U-shaped profile, and closed profile is split along generating line, in second process. The U-shaped profile is placed in take-up unit (4) detected by gripping elements on longitudinal sides of U-shaped profile, in third process. The U-shaped profile is deformed to metal sheet, by moving elements outward, in fourth process. The sheet is subjected to deformation, by stretching sheet in transverse direction, in fifth process. The method involves producing an open or closed extruded profile. An independent claim is included for an installation for producing metal sheet plate from extruded shaped profile.
