METHOD OF OPTIMIZING THE SPECTRAL EFFICIENCY OF A DATA TRANSMISSION AND DEVICE USING THE METHOD

A method of optimizing the spectral efficiency of a data transmission characterized in that it consists, from a set of available modulation and first correction code pairs, in: - determining, for each of said pairs, the maximum efficiency of a second correction code to be applied to the data to be transmitted before application of the first correction code and the modulation so that the error rate (PET) on the data received after transmission on a non-perfect channel is at most equal to a target error rate (TEP), - Selecting, from among all the solutions associating modulation, first and second correction codes, that which makes it possible to maximize the spectral efficiency or to minimize the required transmission rate.
