The method involves presenting a set of images (10-1-10-n) distinct from vegetable objects to a user where the images include images of fruits e.g. citrus fruits, of different species, in the form of a film or morphing. An effective and/or desired degree of a characteristic of the body of the individual is determined by comparison of a property of an area of the body with one of the images. A cosmetic treatment is carried out on the individual, where the cosmetic treatment is a function of the determined degree of the characteristic for modifying the effective degree. The images are images of grapefruit, images of lemon, images of clementine or images of orange. The characteristic of the body of the individual is selected from the number and depth of the wrinkles, relaxation of the skin in the neck, the number and the depth of the folds in the neck, crumpling of the skin, depth of the rings, level of cellulites, texture of the skin, softness of the skin, level of secretion of sebum, brightness of the skin, level of secretion of sweat, density and/or aspect of pores of the skin, skin dryness of the lips, length, curve or density of the lashes or the hair, presence of films on the hair, density and/or aspect of pigmentary tasks, defect of pigmentation, density of blackheads, inflammatory buttons, grain of the skin, contour of the lips, skin color or hair color, whiteness of the skin, transparency of the skin, shape of the hair or volume of the hair.
