Variable band gap solar cell

An improved multiple quantum well solar cell can be achieved by ensuring that the band gap of each quantum well thin layer is not uniform compared to other such layers. Band gap gradation can be achieved by varying the content of at least two Group II to Group VI elements and / or the thickness of a continuous quantum well layer within a continuously formed quantum well. Varying provides an increase in absorption over a larger range of available solar spectrum.
