The purpose of the present invention is to provide a failure recording device capable of recording data and failure content with which failure diagnosis can be more accurately performed, while suppressing recording capacity of data related to failure. This failure recording device is provided with a failure recording controller (3) which, if a failure to be subjected to control is detected, implements a failure recording process in which a failure determination unit (2) selects data to be recorded in accordance with detected-failure content, and the selected data is recorded in a failure-analysis-data recording unit (33) and a failure-name recording unit (35) which serve as recording means. Furthermore, in the failure recording process, in cases when a plurality of failures are detected within a set time period, the failure recording controller (3) records initially detected failure content in the failure-name recording unit (35), records selected data corresponding to this failure in the failure-analysis-data recording unit (33), and only records failure content in the failure-name recording unit (35) for failures detected two or more times.
