The findings solve the problem of melting a steel wire of very low thickness, especially from a worn-out tyre cord, which is a metal scrap that is isolated in the process of scrapping used tyres of cars. This cord is a significant environmental problem. The nature of the notified invention is the thermal treatment of the contaminated steel wire, in particular the spent tyre cord, characterized by the continuous and increasing heating of the thin wire with impurities until the melting stage at 600-1000 st. C,and then, by increasing the temperature, the thin wire is melted and separated from the slag and steel at a temperature from 1450 to 1550 st. C, and it is advantageous to use the heated steel to conduct a continuous or coking iron or steel casting process. The object of the notified invention is a device for the thermal treatment of contaminated thin steel wire, in particular the cord of used tyres, characterized by the fact that, irrespective of the vertical, cross-section or angular layout, the device has a container (1),transmitter (2),induction heating chamber (3),and an induction heater and a melting furnace (4),a furnace which watches and separates slag and steel (5),where the steel is poured through the top or/or bottom hole into the tank/furnace, with the exhaust and gas outlet at the top of the container in the vertical system, and in the angular system at the junction of the transmitter (2) and/or induction overheating heater (3).
