METHOD FOR DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSTICS OF OSTEOPOROTIC AND METASTATIC VERTEBRAL COMPRESSION FRACTURES

A method for diagnosing osteoporosis and metastatic compression fractures of the vertebral bodies includes examining paravertebral soft tissues around the compressed vertebral body through the use of imaging. It is determined the condition of the tissue near the damaged vertebral bodies using magnetic resonance imaging. If there is a thin (10 mm), equal, annular seal of paravertebral soft tissue around the damaged vertebra, osteoporotic compression fracture is diagnosed.
