A monoclonal antibody or fragment thereof capable of binding the HCV E2 glycoprotein of genotypes 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b, 3, 4, 5 and 6 of HCV, wherein the monoclonal antibody or fragment thereof comprises at least one region heavy chain variable comprising the amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO: 1 or a sequence at least 95% identical to SEQ ID NO: 1 and at least one light chain variable region comprising the amino acid sequence SEQ ID NO: 2 or a sequence at least 95% identical to SEQ ID NO: 2, for use in the therapeutic treatment or prevention of HCV infections.
