A lossless LED forward voltage matching network (602) connected between an AC source (604) and a driver (606) of a plurality of LED arrays (608), where the LED arrays (608) are series connected and sequentially activated as the output voltage of the LED driver (606) exceeds the respective forward voltage of the LED arrays (608). The matching network (602) reduces the voltage from the AC source (604) to approximate the sum of the forward voltage of the series connected LED arrays (608) to increase the efficiency of the device.
