The welding device (1) has two electrode holders (10,12) for two welding electrodes (14,16) acted upon with electric welding current. One of the two electrode holders is movable through a linear drive (18) such that the welding electrodes with the interposition of to-be-welded components (20) are brought together in a closing direction (22). One of the two electrode holders comprises an additional electromagnet (30) having an electrode in the closing direction acted upon with working force (F).
