A method and device for global illumination rendering under multiple light sources, used for global illumination rendering of a scene containing several objects; said method being implemented by a system having internal memory and coupled to external memory, and said method comprising: processing the geometric surfaces and virtual point lights in a scene to obtain a first number of geometry blocks and a second number of light blocks; taking all sample points in the scene as row coordinates, and taking all virtual point lights as column coordinates to establish a light transport matrix; dividing the light transport matrix into a second number of columns, and dividing the light transport matrix into a third number of rows; transferring the submatrices and geometry blocks from external memory to internal memory, and calculating the luminance contributions of the virtual point lights to the sample points corresponding to the submatrices; adding the luminance contributions to the corresponding sample points, and outputting the total luminance of the sample points. The invention effectively increases global illumination rendering speed and efficiency and is suitable for rendering large-scale out-of-core scenes.
