Provided is a global illumination rendering method on the basis of a virtual light source and an adaptive sparse matrix reduction, comprising: determining a visual sampler, a virtual light source and light source information of each virtual light source of a scene to be drawn; the visual sampler including a rendering point of a camera on a geometric grid surface of the scene to be drawn, and a line of sight in a medium of the scene to be drawn; the virtual light source including a virtual point light source and a virtual line light source; constructing a light transmission matrix for the scene to be drawn, establishing a corresponding light tree according to the light source information of the virtual light source, and sparse matrix reducing the light transmission matrix column-by-column according to the light tree; conducting a weighted summation of pixel brightness values of each visual sampler corresponding to each pixel, the result of the weighted summation being used as the brightness value of the pixel.
