To model a cornea for the simulation of tissue sections in the cornea, a patient-specific finite element model of the cornea is generated (S2). In the finite element model, a first group of tissue fibers, with main fibers running parallel to the surface of the cornea, are distributed according to a first distribution function (S22). In addition, in the finite element model, a second group of tissue fibers, with inclined, non-parallel to the surface of the cornea extending cross-link fibers, distributed according to a second distribution function (S23).
