The invention relates to a device and a method for saving fluids and powders in equipment in which the fluid or powder can flow through an inlet into an environment provided with an outlet, comprising at least one material outlet (4) for contaminated fluids/powders ("waste water outlet"), at least one material outlet (5) for uncontaminated fluids/powders ("service water outlet"), and a baffle element (3) which is arranged in such a way that, during the intended use of the device, the incoming fluid jet/powder jet strikes this baffle element (3), wherein the inflow into the material outlet (5) for uncontaminated fluids/powders is designed in such a way that only fluids or powders are able to flow in that have struck the baffle element (3) beforehand.
