The present invention relates to a method for recovering rare-earth metals by biologically decomposing monazite using phosphate solubilizing bacteria. To achieve the purpose, the present invention provides a method for extracting rare-earth metals from monazite using microorganisms, comprising the steps of: (a) preparing a medium; (b) inputting monazite into the medium; (c) inputting microorganisms into the medium in step (b); (d) culturing the microorganisms in step (c); and (e) leaching rare-earth metals from the monazite using the microorganisms cultured in step (d). According to the present invention, rare-earth metals can be recovered economically, a process is simplified compared with an existing process and environment is not polluted.
