In step (702) of the read-in, a network signal (708) and a feed-in signal (710) are read. The network signal (708) represents a value and flow direction of a stream through an interface (208) between the network branch (100) and the network (106). The feed-in signal (710) represents a value of a feed-in current fed into the network branch (100). In step (704) of determining, a load (712) in the network branch (100) is determined using the network signal (708) and the feed signal (710). In step (706) of providing, a control signal (714) is provided for adjusting the feed-in current using the load (712) and the maximum load (701) to limit the load.
