PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide food and drink products each of which suppresses absorption of meal-derived fat, suppresses an increase in neutral fat in blood and/or prevents obesity, and to provide a lipase activity inhibitor.SOLUTION: A beverage having high lipase inhibitory activity is prepared by a preparation method which comprises the steps of: bringing an aqueous liquid, which is extracted from tea and contains polymerized catechin and non-polymeric catechin, into contact with activated carbon while keeping the aqueous liquid at 40°C or higher temperature to obtain a new aqueous liquid having the (polymerized catechin)/(non-polymeric catechin) ratio higher than that of the original aqueous liquid; and adding the obtained new aqueous liquid to an original beverage. A tea extract to be added to beverages contains the polymerized catechin of the amount so larger than that of the non-polymeric catechin that the content of the polymerized catechin becomes four times, at the least, of that of the non-polymeric catechin, but does not contain caffeine.SELECTED DRAWING: None
