PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nutrient recovery method of sludge, a culturing method of algae, and an algae culturing system which are capable of avoiding Maillard reaction or excessive decomposition reaction of monosaccharides, and obtaining monosaccharides from sludge at high yield.SOLUTION: After hot water treatment is performed on sludge containing polysaccharides for 10 minutes to 70 minutes in the range from 170°C to 230°C, a part or all of a solid component is recovered from the processed product, hydrolysis is carried out on the recovered solid component by acid or enzyme, by which saccharification is performed. Algae, such as heterotrophic algae, are cultured by using liquid obtained after saccharification. Further, a part or all of a liquid component is recovered from a processed product after the hot water treatment, and algae may be cultured by using the liquid component.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
