The present invention generally relates to compositions and methods for treating neurodegenerative diseases and disorders, in particular ophthalmic diseases and disorders. Compounds of substituted 3-phenylpropylamine derivatives and pharmaceutical compositions containing these compounds are disclosed. The compositions of the invention are useful for the treatment and prevention of ophthalmic diseases and disorders, including age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and Stargardt disease.
