The assembly (1) has a printing device (2) for printing substrates. A printing table (5) includes a transport device (7) for transporting the substrates in one plane (9). A lifting device (11) moves the transport device between a printing plane (13) and a transport plane (12). The table has another transport device (8) for transporting the substrates in another plane (10) below the former plane. Fixed distance (A) between the planes corresponds to distance between the transport and printing planes. A supply device (19) is attached to the table to supply the substrates in the transport plane. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a printing table assembly.
