A device is presented for disinfecting needleless connectors. The device has a housing (102) that contains a UV light source (140). The UV light source is operably connected to a power source. The housing (102) has a receptacle (146) configured to selectively receive a shield (110). The shield (110) has an inner reflective chamber (116) with an internal surface (118) that reflects UV light. In use, the UV light source can illuminate a needleless connector (120) inserted within the shield.
