The invention relates to an adjuster (1) of a shaft for an internal combustion engine, with a stator (2) and a rotor (3) rotatably mounted radially within the stator (2), wherein the stator (2) has a lid-like covering portion (4), which covering portion (4) at least partially covers over the rotor (3) towards an axial end face (5) and, in an operating state, surrounds radially from the outside a pushing-in region (6) that is fixed to the shaft, wherein the covering portion (4) has on its radially inner side (7) at least one elevation (8a, 8b), which extends radially inwards to such an extent that it forms with the rotor (3) an undercut (9) prepared for receiving the pushing-in region (6) in a form-fitting manner, and the invention also relates to a method for mounting such an adjuster (1).
