The present invention relates to a method and a system to determine gripping spaces on an object. The object must be gripped by a robot based on the determined gripping spaces. At least one first gripping form of the robot is taught for the object, and other gripping forms are determined for the object. A first gripping space is determined based on the gripping forms.
