The present invention relates to a novel rhodamine-based chemical sensor having high sensitivity and selectivity to harmful mercury ions existing in an aqueous solution, and to a method for manufacturing the same. According to the present invention, a novel rhodamine derivative, which is represented by chemical formula 1 and able to selectively detect mercury ions in the aqueous solution, and a fabrication method thereof are confirmed. More specifically, the rhodamine-based chemical sensor optimizes the molecular structure thereof by using substituent effects of the rhodamine derivative, thereby being able to rapidly detect the mercury ions in the aqueous solution in a wide pH range with high sensitivity. In addition, the novel rhodamine-based chemical sensor according to the present invention is able to check whether the mercury ions exist or not even by naked eyes, and thus rapidly and simply checks colorimetric signals or fluorescent signals, thereby being able to detect the mercury ions in the aqueous solution.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
