The present invention relates to a genetic marker for detecting a red seabream iridovirus (RSIV), and to a method for detecting a causative virus by using the same. More specifically, to discriminate an RSIV and an infectious spleen and kidney necrosis virus (ISKNV) which are causative viruses, a DNA base sequence for coding a particular gene which is specific to an RSIV among an RSIV and an RSKNV is selected and amplified. Peptide nucleic acid (PNA) for specifically recognizing an amplified byproduct is blended, and a melting curve is obtained by controlling the temperature of a blended byproduct. A virus type is determined from a melting temperature or infection of the virus type of fish is detected by analyzing the obtained melting curve.
