A method for assigning identifiers,the signals are contained in which electronic wheel units of a tire pressure monitoring system of a vehicle which are emitted on wheels of the vehicle are mounted, which are mounted to the vehicle and the rotational speed occurs at the same time, to a correspondingly selected rolling radius of the wheels, due to the different positions of the wheels on the vehicle, in the case of cornering to differ, so that the positions of the wheels in ascending speed of rotation of the wheels can be sorted in the case of cornering,to the positions of the wheels,the electrodes in each case, ® radel techniquesa pressure sensor, which is responsive to the tire pressure of the wheel,a movement sensor, which information about the rotational speed of the wheel supplies,a memory having stored therein, the individual identifier of the electronic wheel unit,and a transmitter, which signals, which not only the individual identification, but also the information about the rotational speed of the respective wheel, to a receiver, which with a on the body of the vehicle antenna and provided with an evaluation device is connected to or provided;the evaluation device identifies the transmitted identifiers and compares the paths traveled by the associated wheels in a defined period of time have traveled,the identifiers sorted according to the length of the distance covered in the specific time period,and assigns the identifiers of the wheel positions in such a way that the identifier, in which, in the defined time period of the longest path has been traveled, the wheel position is assigned, in which in the case of cornering of the longest path is expected, and in that the identifier, in which, in the defined time period of the shortest path has been traveled, the wheel position is assigned, in which, when cornering, the shortest path is expected;for this purpose, for two wheels, which on one behind the same side of the vehicle are mounted, the difference of the route is determined, which the two wheels have traveled in the defined time period, and it is the larger path the front wheel and the smaller path associated with the rear wheel;the cases in which a specific identifier of a front wheel of the vehicle was allocated, are counted, the cases, that the same identifier a rear wheel on the same side of the vehicle was allocated, are counted separately therefrom, and the identifier is stored below the wheel position, for which the counted assignments first reach a predefined second threshold value.
