An automated vehicle includes a control system configured to selectively transition the automated vehicle from an automated control mode to a manual control mode based on a control-passing criterion. The check-passing criterion is based on a current context of the automated vehicle and a record (e.g., a crowdsourced record) of previous check-out events and past contexts associated with the operation of a plurality of additional automated vehicles.
