An electric power grid support system (100) that is coupled to a electric grid (102) includes an electric power delivery system (104). The power delivery system includes at least one inverter-based power generation device (106) and a power inverter assembly (108) coupled to the inverter-based power generation device. The grid support system (100) also includes at least one processor (161) operatively coupled to the power inverter assembly. The processor is programmed to transmit at least one signal (122, 128, 134, 154) to the power inverter assembly. Such signal is used to inject at least one of real current and reactive current into the electric power during periods of low voltage conditions. Such low voltage conditions at least partially result from a fault-induced delayed voltage recovery (FIDVR). The processor is also programmed to modulate the real current and the reactive current as a function of at least one electric grid condition feedback signal (113, 115, 117, 146).
