In palmprint based authentication, extraction of Region of Interest is very crucial but important task in order to increase the performance of the system. The present invention provides simplest, fastest and accurate ROI extraction method for Palmprint. This invention gives a new approach to extract ROI of palmprint. The proposed method extracts ROI using horizontal offset distance between center of original image and centroid of binary image of palmprint. This method is tested on CASIA PalmprintV1, PolyU database and COEP palmprint database. Proposed method extracts ROI of palmprint with the accuracy of 100%. Following invention is described in detail with the help of figures 1 to 8 on sheet no. 1 to 4 shows experimental results on CASIA PalmprintV1 database image which gives the details descriptions of steps of invented methodology.
