Provided is a position detection device that obviates the need for a space in which to paste a scale on a track member. A track member (1) of a motion-guiding apparatus is provided with a through-hole (3) through which a fastening member for used in securing to a base can be inserted. A slider (2) that is assembled so as to be capable of moving on the track member (1) with rolling elements interposed therebetween is provided with magnets (6a, 6b) for generating a magnetic field along the track member (1). Magnetic sensors (8a, 8b) for detecting changes in the magnetic field of the magnets (6a, 6b) that accompany relative motion of the magnets (6a, 6b) with respect to the track member (1) are disposed within the magnetic field of the magnets (6a, 6b).
