An acoustic measurement device provided with a transmission signal formation unit for forming a transmission signal from a pseudorandom noise sequence signal, a transmission unit for emitting the transmission signal into the water as ultrasonic waves, a reception unit for receiving echoes of the ultrasonic waves, and a correlator for distinguishing echoes corresponding to the transmission signal by carrying out correlation processing on the echoes using the pseudorandom noise sequence signal and for measuring the distance to an object of measurement on the basis of the time difference between the transmission signal and the echoes, wherein given a speed of sound in water of Vu and a distance to the object of measurement of D, cases in which the period of the transmission signal is less than or equal to (2D/Vu) are included.
