A method for using squalene as an identification marker of an olive oil and a camellia seed oil. The method comprises: preparing samples of different squalene concentrations using a squalene standard, analyzing the samples of different squalene concentrations by gas chromatography to obtain peak areas, and deriving a standard curve and an equation for a relationship between the peak area and the concentration; then collecting microsamples from a camellia seed oil and an olive oil respectively extracted from a camellia seed and an olive fruit, or from a commercial oil, subjecting the samples to high-temperature saponification, performing squalene extraction by using a petroleum ether, analyzing the extract by gas chromatography to obtain a squalene peak area in the sample, and calculating a squalene content of the sample; and performing statistical analysis of variance for the squalene contents of the camellia seed oil and the olive oil to obtain the squalene contents of the camellia seed oil and the olive oil.
