Uplink operation for LTE in the license-exempt band

A system, method and means for uplink operation in an LTE-exempt spectrum (LTE-U) are disclosed. A wireless transmit / receive unit (WTRU) may, for example, receive license assistance access (LAA) configuration information for a first cell from a second cell. The first cell may be associated with operation in an unlicensed band and the second cell may be associated with operation in a licensed band. The WTRU may determine whether the first subframe is a Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) subframe for the first cell. If the first sub-frame is the SRS sub-frame for the first cell, the WTRU may determine the SRS resources for the first sub-frame and determine whether the WTRU is triggered to transmit SRS transmissions in the first sub-frame. If the WTRU is triggered to send an SRS transmission in the first subframe, the WTRU may send an SRS transmission on the SRS resource for the first subframe.
