This array antenna (20) comprises a beam forming array (34), a plurality of transmission channels (V1, ..., V4) connected to the array (34), a base having a plurality of radiating elements (E1 , ..., E4) connected to a transmission path and capable of transmitting elementary waves forming a carrier wave resulting from an orbital angular momentum, and an encoding unit (38). The antenna is characterized in that it further comprises a modulation unit (M2, ..., M4) associated with a transmission channel (V1, ..., V4) and being able to phase out a switchable phase shift value for each elementary wave for modifying the topological load of the resulting carrier wave, and in that the encoding unit (38) is connected to said modulation unit (M2, ..., M4) for driving its operation and able to form the encoded signal in the resulting carrier wave by determining the switchable phase shift value.
