Sorption agent for treating diseases and conditions associated with an increased concentration of at least one inflammation mediator, preferably cytokine, comprises a porous sorption matrix with a neutral, hydrophobic surface, an average pore size of 11-20 nm and an average particle size of 75-150 mu m. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a sorption device comprising at least one sorption agent; and (2) an extracorporeal perfusion device comprising at least one sorption agent.
