One method for producing a pyrolysis oil is described. In said method, a feed stock to be treated is first pyrolyzed in a pyrolysis zone, in which the feed stock is heated to a temperature of 250 degrees celsius to 700 degrees celsius; and pyrolysed solids and pyrolysis vapors are formed. Pyrolysis vapors are then reformed at a temperature of 450 degrees celsius to 1,200 degrees celsius in a postconditioning zone, where pyrolysis vapors are placed in contact with a catalyst bed, where Pyrolysis is formed. in this case the catalyst comprises a pyrolysed solid which may be obtained according to the pyrolysis described above. Finally, the pyrolysis oil is separated from the additional pyrolysis products which are formed in a separation unit. Pyrolysis oil has a carbon content of more than 65 wt%, a hydrogen content of more than 5 wt%, and an oxygen content of less than 16 wt%. In addition, the pyrolysis oil has a content of 14c of not less than 0.1 part per trillion and an acid value of less than 15 mg koh / g.
