摘要

An eco-friendly process for surface modification of jute fibre/fabric for enhanced functionality including its interfacial adhesion characteristics by dry heating jute fibre/fabric at high temperature with zero water consumption. Importantly, the advancement directs to dry heating such as to partially depolymerise the hemicelluloses/lignin portion of the jute and physically defibrillate the cells and form cracks on the fibre/fabric surface for desired enhanced functionality including interfacial adhesion characteristics of the jute fibre/fabric with unsaturated polymer resins. Also disclosed is Jute-polymer resin biocomposite sheet comprising dry heat treated surface modified jute fibre/fabric interlocked with unsaturated polymer resin have less void content ranging from 5.70 % to 8.50%.
