IMPROVEMENTS TO A SCRAPED SURFACE HEAT EXCHANGER.

The present invention relates to a scraped surface heat transfer (ICSR), especially useful in processing food products within a wide range of viscosities. Said device characterizes by decreasing the flow area between the surface of the shaft and the heat transfer surface of the tube thereof, by establishing a distance between said surfaces in a range of up 0.5mm to 6mm apart, thereby increasing the efficiency due to modifications in its design. Said modifications consist of the geometry of the scrapers, which allows its free end to produce the scrapping of the surface heat transfer, which, in turn, features to the curvature of the said surface with a tolerance equal to or less than 0.1mm. Said tolerance is achieved by the use of a flooring process for the heat transfer surface and a scrapping shaping for the ends thereof. The efficiency of the equipment is also increased by the use of a coil for fluid flow cooling/heating, which closely surrounds the tube for heat transfer into the he at exchange chamber, being surrounded by insulating material contained by the jacketing.
