An interconnection device for detecting whether a vehicle OBD II connector includes a blocking diode or equivalent, the interconnection device comprising: an OBD II connector (26) for connecting said interconnection device (20) to said OBD II connector of vehicle; an alternative power supply (44) connected to said OBD II connector (26); a detection circuit (24), connected to said OBD II connector (26), to detect if the vehicle OBD II connector includes a blocking diode (50); and circuits that include a relay for connecting said alternative power supply (44) to said vehicle OBD II connector if said detection circuit (24) detects that the vehicle OBD II connector does not contain a blocking diode (50) and the OBD II connector (26) is connected to the vehicle OBD II connector.
