The invention relates to a profile server (100) for providing an electronic communications profile for an electronic subscriber identification module (101) of a mobile communications device (103) for communication via a communications network, comprising: a communications interface (105) for receiving a profile request for the communications profile from the mobile communications device (103), wherein the profile request includes an electronic identification of the electronic identification module (101) and device information relating to the mobile communications device (103); a memory (106) in which a plurality of communications profiles for different device properties are stored; and a processor (107) which is designed to select a communications profile based on the electronic identification and the device information, wherein the communications interface (105) is designed to transmit the selected electronic communications profile to the mobile communications device.
